Orthodontic treatment
orthodontic treatment is usually only started after most of a child's adult teeth have started to come through. This is usually when they're about 12 years old but it depends on how many of their adult teeth have come through and the growth of their face and jaws. Orthodontic treatment for adults can begin at any age, but the treatment options are more limited. Treatment will not begin unless you have a good standard of oral hygiene, as orthodontic treatment can increase the risk of tooth decay and gum problems.
Types of orthodontic treatment
orthodontics involves the use of braces to correct the position of the teeth.
Invisalign has several treatment options available for teenagers, depending on the stage of teeth development. Some teenagers will be suitable for the same invisalign treatment as adult patients. Younger teenagers, or those whose adult teeth have not yet erupted can be treated with invisalign teen – a treatment designed specifically for teenagers. Your invisalign provider will determine which treatment best suits your individual needs and the condition of your teeth.

A lot to smile about..
Ciara used ceramic braces for this case to make the neccesary corrections to the bite and crowding as well as create the ideal overlap of the upper front teeth over the lowers. This was a very difficult case but one that was managed with braces alone and without surgery much to the patients delight. He can now eat, chew and smile with a lot morefull confidence.

Nicola is our orthodontic therapist. Nicola originally worked with us 6 years ago as a dental nurse. She then spent 3 years in new zealand where she further her education and completed her orthodontic therapy qualification. We are delighted to have her back 🙂 her new skills make her a great asset to the practice. She is always there to help, she has a huge knowledge of all things to do with braces and can answer all patient queries. Dr jessica is a specialist orthodontist and joined the team at navan orthodontics in 2021. Believe it or not, dr jessica did her orthodontic training with dr christine in king's college london where they became good friends.
